This Serab runner was woven in western Iran in the early 20th century.
It features a lush camel ground which lends the perfect backdrop for vibrant greens, blues, reds, pinks, and yellows. The ivory in both the latticework and ground of the main border work to brighten the whole. The central cartouche which was unintentionally (?) left unbalanced showcases a blue jewel tone "central" lozenge flanked by two small diamonds on one side and one small diamond on the other. The open space preceding the border ends abruptly on the same side as the single diamond. This asymmetry imbues the rug with personality and distinction.
In excellent condition, especially for its significant age.
