This Tabriz rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century.
It features the so called "Mostofi" design of alternating floral wreaths and pinwheel like scrolling vinework on a navy ground. The kaleidoscopic design is fun, formal and festive all at the same time. A wonderful combination of whimsical inspiration and crisp execution. Nicely framed by tightly rendered red main border of alternating palmettes on a scrolling vine.
In excellent condition, with little to no wear and a low sturdy pile with a hefty handle.
