This Art Deco rug was handwoven in Tientsin, China during the second quarter of the 20th century.
This stunning Deco rug features a bountiful blossoming vine that straddles the area where the otherwise unadorned lavender border hugs the open magenta field. The magenta field has two moments where the vibrant, polychrome design more deeply engages the field. One at the top right where the blossoms spill over and hang down and another a moment at the bottom left where a flower-filled vase sits atop a scholars stone.
In very good condition, with some areas of the cotton foundation showing through. Pile is medium height, soft and plush, with a dense and heavy handle.
