This American Hook rug was woven in New England during the first quarter of the 20th century (1900-1925).
It features a whimsical rendering of a white cat sitting in front of a large vase full of flowers. The cat is in profile and the flowers are quite lively in this art nouveau composition. The scene is framed by a fun varied brown and black border intended to replicate the "feel" of a wood frame. This is quite large for a pictorial hooked rug and would look spectacular hung on the wall.
In fair condition, with some visible wear, holes, folk repairs, and patches.
