This Khamseh rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century.

It features a strong geometric central design with octagons in various sizes in a palette of red, blue, green, yellow, ivory, and brown. Five large eye-catching octagons are the most prominent and each are filled with the same protection symbol. The field is framed by a main border of floral motifs that are blossoming in pairs flanked by matching minor borders of diagonal stripes each filled with three boxes outlined in contrasting tones. Woven on a natural ivory hand-spun wool warp and finished with pink and cream candy cane selvedge.

In very good condition, with signs of wear consistent with age. Low pile, with plush meaty wool and a hefty handle.
