This Karaja rug was handwoven in northwest Iran during the second quarter of the 20th century.
It features a geometric triple medallion design characteristic of the type in jewel-toned blues and greens on a rich red field. The rich red field is embellished with bright, eye-catching blues. It is framed by a navy main border flanked by a crisp ivory outer border and turquoise inner border.
In very good condition, with some loss to the end borders but all four sides have been reinforced for longevity. Low pile, with a sturdy handle.
