This Shiraz rug was handwoven in Southwest Iran during the second quarter of the 20th century.
It features a well-balanced central design with a color palette of patinated but lively reds, blues, greens, yellow, ivory, and brown. Framed a main border that features fun and interesting zoomorphic figures that are flanked by matching minor borders of wonky botehs that each seem to have their own personality. Woven on a natural brown hand-spun wool warp and finished with pink and cream candy cane selvedge.
In very good condition, with signs of wear consistent with age. Low pile, with plush meaty wool and a hefty handle.
