Kayseri rug was woven in Central Turkey during the second quarter of the 20th century.
This round rug features a wonderful sun-like shape and the ghost of what was once a tight soft red pattern of mercerized cotton and still prominent metal halo border. Fun shape with interesting materiality and a touch of mystery.
In Fair condition, worn down to the face with foundation fully intact other a small hole. With some light staining which appears to be from cups or vases (as pictured) suggesting it may have been used atop a table.
