This antique Malayer runner was handwoven in Western Iran during the first quarter of the 20th century (1900-1925).
It features a bright cream field with an undulating red & blue central diamond pattern. The lively field is framed by the main border of alternating long-armed palmettes and what appear to be heavily stylized butterflies or dragonflies on a stunning indigo ground. The main border is flanked by bright cream minor borders with repeating "S" motifs.
