This Shahsavan kilim was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century (1925-1950) in Northwest Iran.
This wide runner features a beautifully simple design of organically drawn red and blue stripes with wavy movement and wonderful abrash (natural dye variation). Subtle candy-striped lines of red and ivory are intermittently brocaded over the top. The border consists of a reciprocating pawns motif made of ivory and brown where at some points the bands from the field flow into the border.
Wear is consistent with age. Flatwoven, with a solid handle.
