Regular price $1,350.00 Sale

This Khamseh rug was handwoven during the early 20th century.

It features three connected latch-hooked medallions filled in a rare and quite spectacular palette of bright orange and lively seafoam green that really pop against the navy field. The field is chock full of interesting animal and vegetal motifs. Most intriguing are the four figures on horseback near the center, each with what appears to be a face in their torso. Four boteh-filled cornices in the same powerful orange surround the field and the whole is framed by an ivory main border which softens the composition.

In very good condition, with light but even wear throughout. The pile is low, with an airy but sturdy handle. Nicely finished with original selvedges in alternating blocks of color. The exposed fringe composed of handspun wool adds a rustic touch.
