Vintage Indian patchwork quilt made using block-printed fabrics.
Block-printing is an ancient technique that is widely used throughout Asia. Wooden blocks are hand-carved with a shape or design, which is then dipped in dye and then placed on the fabric.
This quilt is a celebration of indigo. Blue is the main color, with red, black, and white providing details. It uses three different block-printed fabrics, one of which uses writing to great effect, while the other two are geometric designs. The fabrics are cut and pieced together in a diamond design. The back is lined with a striped whole cloth.
In excellent condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Flatwoven patchwork quilt, with a very light and airy handle.
