This Lori rug was handwoven in Southwest Iran during the second quarter of the 20th century. It features deep browns, ivory and warm reds with touches of sunny yellow and green. It was woven of hand-spun wool on a wool foundation. The graphic central design is complemented by stylized animals and other protection symbols dotted throughout the field, and the whole is framed by joyful candy cane borders. The lack of proportion in the pattern adds character and uniqueness to this soulful weaving.
In great condition, with original kilim ends still intact. Wear consistent with age.
