This Taznakht rug was woven south of the High Atlas mountains of Morocco during the middle of the 20th century.

This lively rug features a field filled with various protection symbols and a central axis of powerful diamonds on rich Mediterranean blue ground. The spectacular blue contrasts perfectly with rich red, saffron yellow, and emerald green with ivory accents. Many of the protection symbols found in the field can be found in the wonderful main compartmentalized main border. The extra embellishments are what really set this piece. The composition is finished skirt borders on top and bottom which feature pile weaving atop blocks of green and blue flatweave which gives a visual pop. The weaver utilized multiple saffron-toned selvedges while weaving in improvised moments of red and blue.

Very good condition, some places pile is worn down to the foundation. Original End kilims and selvedges are perfectly intact.
