This stunning Bakshaeesh from Northwest Persia was handwoven during the third quarter of the 19th century (1850-1875). It features an orange central medallion, with an expanding motif and geometric design. The reds, blues and browns are naturally dyed, while the orange is probably a very early primitive synthetic dye, which lends a fun historical detail to the rug. Has had extensive repair, but is in good condition. Wear is consistent with age.
