This Caucasian Kazak rug dates from the late 19th century. It features a strong diagonal latch hook design in a repeating color palette of ivory, brown, blue, red and yellow. The main border is a classic 8 pointed star design with zig-zag minor borders on three sides which very unexpectedly transform into a laleh abbasi border on the fourth side (pictured in last image). In good condition, wear is consistent with age. Heavier wear in the bottom half of the rug, with some repairs to the foundation to increase longevity.
