This kazak rug was woven in the Caucasus during first quarter of the 20th century. It is dated "1333" in the islamic calendar which converts to 1915. It features a bold double niche design in equally bold reds and blues with ivory and yellow accent details. Animal figures are in the four corners of the medallion all surrounded by a striking scrolling "S" border. In good condition, with some wear throughout (pictured), especially in the central area where the pile is worn down. The foundation however is solid.
