This Khotan rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century (1925-1950) in Northwest China (or alternatively Eastern Turkestan). The field features a well contained classic herati design framed by a serrated ivory edge containing a single rosette in each cornice. It has a beautiful color palette both patinated and bright with shades of orange, burnt sienna, amber, and gold. Wear is consistent with age. The edges have been reinforced for longevity.
