Handwoven Kazak rug handwoven during the early to mid 19th in the Caucasus

This rug features two columns of memling guls on an ivory ground. The main border is composed of a classic leaf and calyx design and this one is particularly charming. The minor border is composed of a meander with eight-pointed stars and leaves. The color palette is composed of exceptional tones of apricot, aubergine, red, saffron, turquoise and sensational inky blue.

In worn condition commensurate with its considerable age. Low pile, some areas are worn through to the foundation with holes. Airy yet heavy handle.
