This Khamseh rug was woven in South Iran during the second quarter of the 20th century.
The rug is composed of an indigo blue field with serrated cornices. In the center are a pair of scarabs encapsulated within diamonds, while the background is filled in with small symbols and shapes. Rust orange, indigo blue, and ivory and brown undyed wool make up the color palette. The minor and major borders are composed of alternating floral meanders.
In very good condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Pile is low, with a heavy but airy handle.
