vintage bakhtiari rug with lozenge pattern and spiky twelve-stepped stars with rooster border in multicolor red blue and brown with ivory details

Vintage Bakhtiari Rug - 5'3 x 6'10

Regular price $650.00 Sale

Bakhtiari rug handwoven in South Iran during the second quarter of the 20th century.

This rug is composed of a geometric lozenge pattern, containing very spiky and dynamic twelve-pointed stars. The color palette is made up of deep earthy reds, ivories, and browns, with indigo blue serving up details. The main border is very interesting and unique: it is composed of multicolor roosters in stepped-hexagonal shapes. This rug definitely benefits from second and third looks, for it will continue to reveal itself over and over.

In good condition, with some wear where the pile has worn down in the right-center of the rug (pictured); foundation is still intact. Low pile, with a solid handle.
