This Karaja rug was woven in northwest Iran during the second quarter of the 20th century.
The design is composed of three medallions on a red ground. The space surrounding the medallions is filled with geometric symbols and shapes. The meandering borders are typical of this style and frame the field elegantly, without overwhelming it. This little rug is perfect for an entryway or landing, a small place in need of a pop of color and interest.
In excellent condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Pile is low, with a stiff handle.
