This Mahal was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century in Western Iran.
This rug is composed of a large-scale pattern on a vibrant red field. The design appears to be an innovative variation of the Herati pattern in various blues, greens, pink, yellow, and gold. Framed by a border of various colorful palmettes and scrolling leaves on a deep surmah ground. A very vibrant and energetic piece that truly sparkles.
In very good condition, with some minimal wear in the field. Pile is thick but low, with a dense but malleable handle.
