This rug was handwoven in the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Northwest Iran (1950-1975). It is a great example of the rugs of Ardabil, which saw a boom in rug production during the second half of the 20th century, particularly in the '60s and '70s. This small rug has a soft ivory field, with animal figures and geometric design in lovely reds, greens, and blues. The black central medallion and surrounding figures ground the rug and add depth. In perfect condition, signs of wear consistent with age.
