Sarouk rug from Western Iran, handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century.
This rug features a curvilinear floral design on a navy field. The floral work is crisp and well-executed. The main border features alternating palmette and leaves on a red ground and is flanked by two thin minor borders of delicate blossoming vines. It exudes an aesthetic of faded elegance in the best way possible. The consistent wear on the field adds to the "look" of the rug without being a concern structurally.
In Good condition with visible wear throughout. Structural repairs were made to close a tear and some rewoven areas on the opposite side (all pictured). All four sides have been reinforced for longevity.
