1890s Uzbeki Tekke Turkmen Rug Fragment - 3'4 x 3'6
Antique Tekke Turkmen rug fragment handwoven in Uzbekistan during the last quart of the 19th century, in the 1890s.
This fragment features the classic Turkmen gülvertically arranged in columns, on a deep red field. The bottom skirt border is composed of hooked diamonds, while the border around the field is composed of geometric shapes. The color palette is also classic Turkmen: gorgeous reds, deep blues, and soft ivories and camels.
Would work well as a wall hanging or decorative piece, or placed in a low-traffic area.
In fair condition for the considerable age, with worn areas throughout and a tear in the middle measuring 11". Low pile, with a light handle.
