Antique Tekke Turkmen rug fragment handwoven in Uzbekistan during the last quart of the 19th century, in the 1890s.
This fragment features the classic Turkmen gül vertically arranged in columns, on a deep red field. The bottom skirt border is composed of hooked diamonds, while the border around the field is composed of geometric shapes. The color palette is also classic Turkmen: gorgeous reds, deep blues, and soft ivories and camels.
Would work well as a wall hanging or decorative piece, or placed in a low-traffic area.
In fair condition for the considerable age, with worn areas throughout and a tear in the middle measuring 11". Low pile, with a light handle.
