FEATURED
Buyi Quilt Cover - 2'6 x 3'9
A lively Buyi quilt cover composed of gridded square panels, each filled with bold, abstract floral forms alongside stylized yin-yang and butterfly motifs, symbols often associated with balance, harmony, and transformation.
Hand-stitched construction, visible repairs, and layered backing reflect its utilitarian origins and long use in domestic life. The reverse shows reinforcing stitches typical of working textiles from Buyi communities.
A graphic and highly decorative piece that bridges folk tradition and modern abstraction, ideal for wall display.
DEAL OF THE MONTH
Small Chinese Gansu Bat Rug - 1’6 x 3'3
A small Gansu rug woven with a lively arrangement of auspicious symbols. Pairs of stylized bats appear throughout the central field, arranged around endless knots and shou symbols, while interlocking ring motifs line the outer border.
In Chinese decorative arts, the bat is a symbol of good fortune, while the shou character represents longevity and the endless knot suggests continuity and enduring harmony. Together, these motifs give the rug a rich symbolic vocabulary despite its intimate scale.
