This Gabbeh rug was handwoven in Southern Iran during the 21st century.
It features stepped rows of polychrome squares on a distinctive marigold backdrop. Each square is filled with a grouping of simple abstracted people and animals, with a contrasting outline. They have a handrawn quality to them that is accentuated by a thin ever slightly meandering line which frames them. The pile is densely woven, making this a plush rug.
The condition is excellent unused condition, with no signs of wear.
