This blanket was likely woven by the Fulani people in Mali during the middle of the 20th century. It was woven in multiple stripes which have been attached horizontally. It features an eye dazzling checkerboard composed of white, black, red, green, blue and a sunny yellow-orange. It features four human figures and six goats as well as various stripes in green, purple and black against an ivory ground. A wonderful and less common palette most often seen on Nigerian weavings. The figuresd and stripes have been completed using weft substition over the ivory strips.
