This kilim was handwoven during the middle of the 20th Century in Sweden.

This very architectural composition features a border of stepped polygons surrounded with the a border that echoes the field by using waves of rhythmic intersecting blocks. Rendered in a warm, earthy palette of chestnut, wheat, cream, slate, moss and red clay. Signed with the initials

baluch The field design is composed of alternating rows of botehs that aligned on the diagonal on a camel ground. The botehs are big and plump in contrasting tones of purples, blues and pinks including an early synthetic hot pink that isn't for Baluch purists but adds some visual interest for the rest of us!  Finished on both ends with original interlocking lightning bolt kilims.

The field features a grid rounded main guls in apricot, indigo, turquoise and ivory on vibrant red ground. The space between the grid is filled with rows of cruciform shaped secondary guls. In a rare square format that allows for very luxurious and open spacing of the guls.
