This Kazak was handwoven during the early 20th century in the southwest Caucasus.
A beautifully drawn Kazak featuring a chain of hooked diamond medallions on a vibrant sky-blue field. Each medallion is filled with either concentric diamonds or rubik's cube like grid in ivory, saffron, madder red, and deep indigo. Scattered rosettes and small geometric motifs animate the field, creating a lively rhythm. The border system is classic and powerful with an ivory “ram’s horn” outer border that encloses a richly colored series of diamonds, rosettes, and zigzag bands. Ideal for entryways, studies, bedrooms, or layered interiors where strong color and character are desired.
In very good condition with a few areas of wear. Wool on wool with a loose, floppy handle.
