This Suzani was handmade during the early 20th century in Uzbekistan. This suzani is composed of central floral motif embroidered in silk on an open red cotton field. Flanked by vibrant multi-tiered blossoming flowers to the right and left and framed by a lively floral meander. A multitude of colors are used for the embroidery, including turqoise, green, white, yellow, and purple.

Each pair of hexagons is neatly separated by bands of geometric shapes. Well executed patterning that is very refined for type. Each of the three borders accentuate and balance the tones in the composition. Of particular not is the main ivory ground border which adds just the right amount of brightness

Framing it is an ivory band filled with a twist on the classic Herati pattern, which is continued in the inky blue cornices. The minor border is composed of a simple small-scale diamond pattern, while the main border contains two patterns: the top and bottom has a diamond pattern, while the left and right sides have an a pattern of alternating palmettes.

This Antique Serab Runner features two striking medallions floating above lively latticework in ruby and sapphire which all pop against the rich camel ground. The latticework is contained within a cartouche on one side but the cartouche is incomplete on the other. Nicely finished with an inner border of polychrome rosettes on a cheerful ivory ground and an outer laleh abbasi border rendered in perfectly contrasting tones of navy and red.
