This Antique Square Hooked Rug features a circular medallion with a central flying bird carrying a twig with berries in its mouth. Along the perimeter of the medallion are roses and four vases filled with flowers at a 45-degree angle. The whole is framed by a border of sticks each with a large leaf growing from its center. Thinly rendered vine work filled much of the rest of the open spaces betwen the pattering.

This Ningxia rug was handwoven in China during the first quarter of the 20th century. The main design is composed of various porcelain vases filled with fruit and plants such as cherry blossoms on wooden stands.This red tone is very auspicious and often associated with prosperity. It is framed by a thin blue border that forms an endless knot symbol at each corner.

This finely woven Tekke ensi, or door rug, was woven in Southern Turkmenistan during the early 20th century. Its composition follows the traditional four-panel layout divided by a vertical and horizontal axis in a classic Hatchli format. Within each quadrant, stylized tree motifs rise in rhythmic symmetry as abstracted forms that may signify fertility, life, and renewal within the enclosed domestic world.

19th century Timuri Baluch rug composed of a wide prayer format often seen in early Timuri rugs. The blue ground mihrab contains a tree of life motif. Some of the serrated leaves on the tree are woven with apricot and aubergine silk. The main border is composed of hexagons with hooked geometric shapes. Outside of the small touches of colorful silk the color palette is subdued and limited to reds, blues, and oxidized browns.
