This Nakshi Kantha was crafted in Bengal during the late 19th century.
Kantha is a Bengali folk tradition of embroidering textiles using recycled cloth. This Kantha is subdivided into 16 squares full of leaf and other vegetal forms. Simple and refined with nuanced variation in stitching in straightforward red and navy thread on a white cotton ground.
In very good condition with some light staining and light wear on the edge.
