This rug was handwoven in Afghanistan at the turn of the 21st Century.
It features an all-over design of curling arabesques and energetic rosettes in creamy khaki and reddish rust dancing on a deep navy ground. The pattern is more commonly associated with mahal rugs of western Iran but, is rendered here with handspun Afghan wool and natural dyes.
In excellent condition with a supple handle.
