This Ersari Turkmen-style rug was woven during the 21st century in Northern Afghanistan.
It features a simplified pattern of classic Ersari Turkmen güls in black and turquoise on an expansive cream ground. The composition is framed by a simple and unreconciled turquoise rams horn meander border. Woven in Sherbeghan in the same region that the Ersari Turkmen have been weaving a variation of this pattern for at least the last few centuries.
In excellent condition, with no signs of wear. The pile is low and dense with a hefty handle.
