Ilgich are small square embroideries created by Lakai & Kungrat girls to showcase their artistic talents. Traditionally part of a dowry to be displayed prominently in the home. It features circles and vegetal shapes in vibrant tones of yellow, orange, green, bright white and two shades of purple.

Features a central medallion and four cornices of blossoming flowers on an open and expansive blue field. Framed by nicely spaced main border of individual flowering branches of an ivory ground and finished with a solid block of navy around the perimeter. Peking rugs were created for the British market and the palette was utilized to emulate the look of blue and white Chinese porcelain which was extremely popular in the West.

This field is composed of a directional prayer niche with a tree-of-life central motif on a desirable camel ground. This American Hooked rug was handhooked in New England during the first quarter of the 20th century (1900-1925).  It features a pictorial design of two confronting dogs against a backdrop of trees. Wonderfully folky with a simple but effective use of perspective. The same pf dog is featured but subtle differences like the color of the collar and the different shape of the faces highlight the handmade nature and unique character that is desired in these pieces.

This Agra rug was woven in Northern India during the late 19th century.  It features an elegant all-over herati design in crimson and icy blue on an oxidized brown ground. The crimson tone utilizes lac which is a dye derived from insects and characteristic of Northern India weaving from both Amritsar and Agra. The whole is framed by a reconciled palmette border. A portion of foundation is visible revealing that the underlying cotton has been dyed with indigo.

 A chyrpy is a long robe of embroidered silk that Tekke women wear over the head and shoulders with false, decorative sleeves. These are ceremonial garments to be worn on special occasions.  This chyrpy features abstracted floral forms stitched in yellow, ivory aubergine and red silk on black ground. It is lined with cotton that is blockprinted with boteh and scrolling leaves.

Flowering vases and branches that start in the border grow freely into the field unrestrained. A flower filled vase with a bird perched on one of its branches can be found near the center of the composition. Various birds and butterflies can also be seen frolicking amongst the flowers
