This Shekarlu rug was woven at the turn of the 20th century. The Shekarlu are a Lori-speaking tribe of the Qashqa'i Confederacy.

It features a spectacular all-over field chock full of totemic polygons, rosettes, serrated combs, and various types of animals and protection symbols. Nicely balanced yet yet still with a free flowing rhythm. It features reds, lively blues, sunny yellows, sage, brown and bright ivory on a indigo ground. The whole is framed by a stark white border

 Timuri Baluch was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century in Western Afghanistan.

It features a lattice pattern of stepped diamonds and serrated polygons. With lush deep blue and red wool with a dark but lustrous complexion. The addition of a dark brown which has oxidized naturally sculpts the pattern and gives the shapes the feeling of floating in space. This Tapa or Ngatu cloth was made of mulberry bark fiber in Tonga during the 20th century.

Tapa or Ngatu in Tonga is a type of decorated barkcloth found throughout Polynesia. The inner bark of the paper mulberry tree is beaten with a mallet and joined into a large cloth which is then decorated with natural dyes and pigments. The decoration is called Kupesi and references the natural world, seasons and Tongan cosmology.
