Hand-knotted carpet in a neutral color palette of honey brown, light tan, white, and dark brown.
This piece includes a Mihrab in the center, surrounded by a dark brown, tan, and white border. All fiber that is used was undyed and handspun by Welty, which was local to New England and New York, places where she has spent her life. Emma spent six months weaving this rug. It was modeled from the fragment of a rug that Emma's great-grandfather wove. A long section of the warp threads has been left as fringe on the bottom of the rug.
