This silk rug was handwoven during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Tianjin, China.
It features a central lotus mandala on a rich red ground. This red tone is very auspicious and often associated with prosperity. The field is full of other auspicious symbols as well as flower-filled vases. The whole is framed by a border of blossoming vines on a golden ground. Nicely finished with golden fringes adding further distinction.
In very good condition, with minimal wear. Dense with a floppy handle and lustrous touch.
