Mandala In Search of Enlightenment

A vibrant woven cinta from Zunil, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. This long headdress band is brocaded with repeating multicolored motifs, including geometric diamonds and stylized human figures in bright yellow, green, red, and white against a richly patterned ground. The ends finish in twisted multicolored tassels, typical of Zunil weaving.

She wears a wide-brimmed red hat, a white blouse with puffed sleeves, and a striped skirt rendered in earthy tones. Her bold black hair and expressive features are woven with striking clarity, giving the figure a distinctive presence. Metal thread has been utilized in accents of the hat.
