From Mary Ann:
My fascination with grids goes back to art school. In my tapestries, they have been the basis of several compositions but I have also broken up the grid into splintered areas that take on a kind of cubist imagery. The work of the Cubist painters has had a great influence on me in both tapestry as well as in painting.
