Heriz rug from Northwest Iran, handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century.
This Heriz features a graphic all-over design of geometric rosettes and sawtoothed serrated leaves in blues, reds, yellow and soft pink on a rare ivory ground. Although the design is all-over as opposed to the classic Heriz central-medallion motif, the compelling leaves draw the eyes to the center. The main border is composed of a reciprocating palmette design showcasing various well-executed blue tones that frame the ivory field perfectly.
In Very Good condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Low pile with a sturdy handle.
