Antique tie-dyed Turban handmade in Rajasthan, India during the early 20th century.
This turban is made of woven muslin cloth, which has been resist-dyed in a multicolored leheriya pattern. Leheriya, which translates to "wave", is a unique technique from Rajasthan that utilizes colorful diagonal chevron stripes and is thought to be inspired by the surrounding desert landscape.
Turbans were essential male business attire in Rajasthan during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This turban was likely worn by a merchant, teacher or elder.
