This Baluch rug was handwoven during the early 20th century in Afghanistan. It features two octagonal Turkmen guls on a red ground and framed by a border of hourglass and cruciform shapes. Rich saturated tones and nice interplay between light and dark. It has original kilim ends on top and bottom that are each embellished with their own weft float pattern. This balisht has it's original kilim back still intact and which employs thick stripes of red, orange, brown and ivory.
