This Coptic textile was woven in Egypt or the Levant in the 5th century AD.
It features a roundel with various vegetal motifs on a rich red ground. It is framed by rounded borders including a main latchhooked border. With tones of green and yellow to go with the classic purplish brown and wheat colored linen classically found in these textiles.
In good condition considering its significant age. The fragment has been mounted to a fabric and framed to better display and secure the piece. Fraying around the edges and two holes near the center.
