This silk jajim was handwoven by the Shahsavan during the middle of the 19th century.
This type of weaving was utilized as a bedding cover by nomads or in a village setting. This piece features rich, deeply saturated tones in bands of red, blue, yellow, green, ivory, and brown. Woven in silk more finely than others we have handled or encountered. A collector's piece with exceptional dyes and materiality that is all about COLOR. A powerful piece in the perfect size to hang on the wall as an impactful piece of art as it deserves to be displayed.
In very good condition, fragment of a larger piece. Oxidation in the browns and some staining (as pictured)
