This silk jajim was handwoven in Northwest Iran by the Shahsavan during the middle of the 19th century.  This type of weaving was utilized as a bedding cover by nomads or in a village setting. This piece features rich, deeply saturated tones in bands of red, blue, yellow, green, ivory and brown. Woven in silk more finely than other we have handled or encountered.
