This Shirvan rug was woven in the Caucasus during the late 19th century.

It features three powerful leshgi stars on an earthy red ground full of various rosettes and protection symbols.  Encapsulated by multiple individualized borders including rosettes, sunbursts, and calyx and serrated leaves. A very handsome palette of blues, reds, greens and aubergine is accentuated by glowing coral and orange among other tones.

This Sultanabad wagireh was handwoven during the late 19th century.  This piece was intended as a wagireh or sampler rug is a templates which illustrates the important components of a rug pattern for the weaver. This sampler features the classic patterning and tonality that are hallmarks of the famous workshops of Ziegler and Co. The pleasing palette includes blue, soft yellow, two oranges, and a desirable ivory ground.

This silk rug was handwoven during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Tianjin, China.It features a central scene of two mythological fenghuangs surrounding a red and pink peony on a yellow ground. The yellow oval is flanked by four prancing stags on a seafoam green ground. The whole is framed by a border of blossoming red and pink peonies on green vines and finished a thick block of navy around the perimeter.

This silk rug was handwoven during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Tianjin, China.It features a central lotus mandala on a rich red ground. This red tone is very auspicious and often associated with prosperity. The field is full of other auspicious symbols as well as flower filled vases. The whole is framed by a border of blossoming vines on a golden ground. Nicely finished with golden fringes adding further distinction.

This Bokhara was woven in Pakistan during the 1980s.  With an uncommon design for Bokhara rugs it for Bokhara features a classic Ensi design and a lovely skirt border on one end all on a desirable and uncommon black ground. Ensi rugs were woven by Turkmen tribes and traditionally used as a door cover or entrance to a yurt. Their is a belief among seasoned Turkmen collectors that the intention of this pattern was to represent a door or window to the afterlife.
