This Tabriz rug was handwoven during the early 20th century.

It features an all-over design of penguin-like botehs waddling row by row in alternating directions. The botehs shift slightly in proportion and placement giving the composition a wavy feel. Adding to the funky feel and nature of the rug the weaving style begins to change near the top from a crisper weave to a looser one while the colors used slowly begin to shift as the new weaver presumably began to run out of the original yarn.

This silk rug was handwoven during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Tianjin, China.It features a central scene of two mythological fenghuangs surrounding a red and pink peony on a yellow ground. The yellow oval is flanked by four prancing stags on a seafoam green ground. The whole is framed by a border of blossoming red and pink peonies on green vines and finished a thick block of navy around the perimeter.
