This Marmoucha rug was woven in the Middle Atlas mountains during the 20th century.  It features a diamond lattice design in orange, ivory and blue on a purple ground. Various purples are present shifting from wine to grape soda. The lattice is filled with simple shapes and protection symbols. There is a partial border only to one side.

This Boucherouite rug was handwoven in Morocco during the end of the 20th century.   Boucherouite rugs are made using recycled fabrics, giving them their distinctive multicolor and shaggy pile. This funky rug features a diamond checkerboard pattern in black, ivory, red and turquoise.  The lovely free flowing nature is accentuated by the changing proportions of the diamonds and uneven use of the vibrant tones (especially the turquoise!)

Like many Quchan weavigns it is influenced by the nearby traditions. The perfect combination of Baluch design sensibility and Kurdish use of color. Simultaneously simple yet visually complex it features a design of concentric diamonds created with blocks of color over a totemic latticework. Multiple reds and blues are joined by a lovely orange and a deep brown. Inspired by their Baluch neighbors, a striking ivory is masterfully used to awaken the piece and provide it's visual impact.
