This Rare & Unusual Heriz features a stepped central medallion with a large central rosette surrounded by smaller rosettes atop a rich red ground of large botehs. Hatchmarks around the medallion as well as the stepped cornices give the piece a dynamic energy. Each cornice features a field of rosettes on a coral ground. The main border is composed of a crisply drawn rosette meander on a bright ivory ground. Many of the classic Heriz hallmarks are in rare patterns and sizes.

This Antique Heriz Rug features a geometric central medallion and rich saturated tones. A red field is complemented by deep navy, various blues and greens as well yellow, coral adn ivory. Wonderful tones throughout but the icy blue, indigo, chartreuse and jade really sparkle. It is framed by a navy main border of polychrome palmettes. In a desirable size that is more squarish than usual.

This Sultanabad was handwoven in Western Iran during the early 20th century. It features a central medallion that floats on an open and expansive golden camel ground. The field is bare other than the medallion and four cornices each mimicking a mirorred quadrant of the medallion. Framed by a main border of scrolling vegetation in pink, green, ivory and gold on an icy blue ground. Well-balanced with a desirable palette in a hard to come by size.

Mamluk rugs are a type of rug that was woven in Egypt during the 15th and 16th centuries. The graphic central medallion is formed of concentric shapes that gives the rendering a kaleidoscopic feel. All over designs are less common on Heriz rugs which most often feature large central medallions. The main border is composed of a rosette and outstretched arm palmette border on a surmah ground.
